Lachen Permits Resume Today — Apply Now for Fast Approval
Tourist travel to Lachen in North Sikkim will resume on March 8, 2026, after the Mangan district administration announced that permits for the destination will again be issued through the established government procedure. Mangan District Collector Anant Jain said the move restores the formal permit process for visitors to the high‑altitude area.
Tourists, travel agencies and authorised representatives can obtain permits by approaching the District Collectorate in Mangan and completing the required formalities under the prescribed protocol. The administration said the usual system for travel to North Sikkim will be followed to ensure proper documentation and safety compliance.
The resumption comes alongside an advisory on vehicle movement for the newly installed Bailey suspension bridge over the Taram Chu on the Chungthang–Lachen road. The bridge has been installed to restore connectivity, and authorities have introduced specific traffic regulations to keep movement across the structure safe and controlled.
Officials said the advisory aims to protect public safety and safeguard the new bridge as traffic gradually increases along the route. The administration has asked drivers, tour operators and visitors to cooperate with the restrictions so travel toward Lachen can resume smoothly while safety measures remain in place.
With permits reopening on March 8, 2026, the decision is expected to bring relief to travel operators and tourists who had been waiting to access Lachen. Reported by Lalit Dahal.
