Air India and Air India Express Empower Stranded Travelers with Extra Flights to UAE Cities on March 8!

March 8, 2026 2 Min Read

Air India and Air India Express are set to maintain scheduled services to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Muscat, Oman, as airspace in these regions remains accessible. Air India will continue its regular flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Jeddah, while Air India Express provides connections between Muscat and several Indian cities, including Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Mumbai, and Kannur.

In light of ongoing airspace restrictions affecting certain areas in West Asia, both airlines will introduce a number of additional non-scheduled flights on March 8, pending approval from Indian and local authorities. Air India plans to operate extra services between Delhi, Mumbai, and Dubai in the UAE, while Air India Express will oversee 30 additional flights connecting Indian cities to various destinations in the UAE, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah.

The airlines have confirmed a roster of scheduled flights on March 8, ensuring connectivity for travelers in both regions. Flights linking India with Muscat will serve major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, and Thiruvananthapuram. Similarly, services between India and Jeddah will continue from Delhi, Mumbai, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, and Bengaluru.

The additional non-scheduled flights reflect a commitment to assist stranded travelers amid ongoing regional disruptions, with priority given to passengers holding existing bookings. Additionally, Air India will enhance services to Dubai from both Mumbai and Delhi. Ras Al Khaimah will also see extra flights operating from these two cities along with Kochi and Bengaluru. Meanwhile, enhanced connectivity will be offered to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, primarily from Mumbai and Bengaluru, with extra flights to Muscat from Mumbai and Delhi to further support affected passengers.

However, several Gulf routes are temporarily canceled. Air India Express announced that all services to and from Bahrain, Dammam, Doha, Kuwait, and Riyadh will remain suspended until March 13. Air India has also paused its scheduled flights to and from Dammam, Doha, and Riyadh until March 10. For passengers with canceled journeys, both airlines are providing options to rebook for a later date at no additional charge or to request a full refund.

Travelers flying with Air India can easily submit rebooking or cancellation requests via the airline’s website or through its 24-hour customer support line. In addition, Air India Express allows passengers departing from any UAE airport to rebook on the airline’s upcoming commercial flights with no extra fees.

Flights to Europe and North America continue as usual, with Air India operating on alternative routes since March 2. Due to these longer itineraries, some flights from India to North America are making technical stops at Rome–Fiumicino Airport or Vienna International Airport before arriving at their final destinations.

As airlines navigate the complexities of regional airspace restrictions, they remain focused on ensuring reliable connectivity for all passengers.
