PM Modi to Launch Landmark HPV Drive for Ajmer Girls Feb 28
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ajmer, Rajasthan, on February 28, 2026, to launch a state-wide HPV vaccination campaign and personally administer the first dose of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to girls aged 9 to 14. During the visit he will address a public gathering and inaugurate and lay foundation stones for multiple Central and state government projects worth a combined Rs 16,686 crore. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma will accompany the Prime Minister.
The HPV vaccination drive is being presented as a major preventive measure against cervical cancer and as an effort to improve adolescent girls’ health. Authorities say the initiative aims to protect young girls through early vaccination, raise awareness about women’s health, and expand access to healthcare services across the state.
Mr. Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 43 major projects spanning urban development, drinking water supply, roads, railways, irrigation, energy and industrial infrastructure. At least 34 state projects, valued at about Rs 8,554 crore, cover departments such as Urban Development, Public Health Engineering, Public Works, Energy, Water Resources and Industry.
Nine major national highway and energy projects, collectively worth approximately Rs 8,132 crore, will also be dedicated to the nation; this includes two foundation stones and seven inaugurations. National Highway works worth over Rs 4,516 crore feature a 4‑lane Greenfield Expressway from Bandikui to Jaipur (Rs 1,207 crore), an 8‑lane carriageway from NH‑76 junction to Ummedpura village on NH‑12 (Package‑14 of the Delhi‑Vadodara Access Controlled Greenfield Expressway), and widening and strengthening of various state highways.
Urban road projects include an elevated road in Jaipur from Sanganer Flyover to Malpura Gate via Chauradiya Petrol Pump (Rs 286 crore) and a 4‑lane elevated road in Jodhpur from Mahamandir to Akhaliya Square (Rs 1,243 crore). The Malbamori‑Mangrol‑Baran state highway in Baran district is listed at Rs 322 crore. To bolster drinking water supply, foundation stones will be laid for four packages of the Nonera Major Drinking Water Project (Rs 1,021 crore) and five packages of the Parwan Akawad Major Drinking Water Project (Rs 2,247 crore).
In the energy sector, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a transmission system worth Rs 3,616 crore to facilitate power transfer from Rajasthan’s renewable energy hubs, and lay foundation stones for five 220 kV and two 400 kV grid substations. He will also lay the foundation for infrastructure and drinking water projects in the Jodhpur Pali Marwar Industrial Area (JPMIA) aimed at attracting investment and generating employment in western Rajasthan.
As part of the programme, the Prime Minister will distribute appointment letters to 21,863 selected candidates for various state departments and organisations, including more than 3,320 Patwaris, 2,291 contract junior technical and accounts assistants, 2,590 livestock assistants, 3,822 community health officers and 7,357 public health care nurses along with other medical and nursing staff.
