Breaking News: Meghalaya CM Unveils Transformative Technological Partnership with NISG to Propel State Development
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has declared the National Institute for Smart Government (NISG) as the primary nodal agency to establish a Centre of Excellence for emerging technologies in the state. Announced via the social media platform X, Sangma emphasized that NISG will spearhead technological advancements to support Meghalaya Mission 2028.
Sangma shared on X, “In light of advancing Meghalaya Mission 2028 and promote technological interventions in the State, we welcome National Institute for Smart Government (NISG) to be a primary nodal agency for developing a Centre of Excellence for emerging technologies in Meghalaya.”
In parallel developments, the state government has allocated Rs 840.29 crore to enhance the tourism sector in Meghalaya. This investment aims to foster sustainable and responsible tourism, improving the economic conditions and quality of life for the locals while appealing to tourists.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh revealed that these funds were declared in the Assembly on August 28. The tourism initiatives are projected to generate employment and boost the state’s economy.
Additionally, the Meghalaya Eco Tourism Infrastructure Development project, with a budget of Rs 730 crore, targets the creation of landmark infrastructure at prominent tourist locations such as Sohra, Shillong, and Tura. Lyngdoh also disclosed that the state has secured Rs 60.29 crore under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and Rs 50 crore through the Challenge Based Destination Development initiative for further development.
