Akhtar specifically called out Varun Chakaravarthy for his underwhelming performance, noting that his usual pace was noticeably down. “Varun, whose strength lies in bowling at 97-98 km/h, was clocking only 94. When he entered the attack, he was hit for a no-look six by Dewald Brevis,” he noted.
To address these shortcomings, Akhtar advocated for the inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav in the team, referring to him as the “missing link” capable of outsmarting batters and taking key wickets. “Kuldeep Yadav is someone who can deceive batters in the air and pick up wickets when needed. He’s a proven match-winner,” Akhtar asserted, suggesting his potential value in bolstering the Indian bowling lineup.
