2 JeM Terrorists Killed in Kishtwar, J&K — Security Forces Triumph
Two Pakistani terrorists linked to Jaish-e‑Mohammad were killed on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in an intelligence‑led encounter in the Passerkut area of the Chatroo belt in Kishtwar district, security officials said. The operation, launched under Operation Trashi‑1, was carried out by joint teams from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force after specific intelligence flagged the militants’ presence.
Officials said the two men were hiding inside a mud house at the foothills when they opened fire on approaching troops, triggering an intense exchange. Both were neutralised during the firefight and war‑like stores — including two AK‑47 rifles and other arms and ammunition — were recovered from the site.
The Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the encounter in a tweet on February 22, 2026, announcing “TWO TERRORISTS KILLED | OPERATION TRASHI‑I” and saying the action followed “credible intelligence inputs” collated from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Intelligence Bureau and the force’s own sources. The Corps said troops re‑engaged the terrorists in challenging terrain and displayed tactical precision and coordination; operations in the area remain ongoing, it added.
The snow‑bound Chatroo forest belt has seen multiple encounters in recent weeks as security forces intensified efforts to track militants in the upper reaches of the Jammu region. Earlier this month, security forces said they had neutralised two Pakistani terrorists, including a senior JeM commander, in Udhampur district and recovered an M4 carbine and an AK assault rifle. Authorities said broader counter‑terror operations across the region will continue.
