Pradyot Urges Voters: Reject BJP in Crucial ADC Polls
Agartala, 15 February 2026 — Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha Party, on Sunday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of neglecting development in areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and urged tribal voters not to support the BJP in the upcoming elections, calling the issue decisive for the future of tribal youth and the next generation.
Speaking at a joining programme in South Hadrai, West District, where about 150 voters from 30 families switched allegiance to Tipra Motha, Pradyot stressed the need for unity among indigenous communities. He said tribals, as “sons of the soil,” should not remain economically disadvantaged in their own land and blamed political divisions for weakening collective strength.
Pradyot alleged that internal fragmentation had stalled progress and allowed others to benefit from resources he said rightfully belong to the Tiprasa people. He warned of growing social and political fragmentation within tribal society and urged consolidation to protect community interests.
While at times stopping short of naming the BJP directly, Pradyot accused political actors of attempting to divide tribal communities for electoral gain. He said his party would not be intimidated by such tactics and vowed to resist attempts to undermine tribal unity.
Questioning the effectiveness of the “double-engine government” narrative, Pradyot claimed many village areas still lack basic infrastructure, including roads, mobile connectivity and drinking water. He further alleged that natural resources such as gas and oil originate in district council areas but that financial benefits are concentrated in Agartala rather than reaching local communities.
Looking ahead, Pradyot warned that the BJP may seek control of the district council in 2026 but said Tipra Motha is preparing to contest and form the Tripura state government in 2028. He concluded by calling on tribal voters to unite and make a decisive choice that, he argued, will shape opportunities for younger generations.
