Swiss multinational UBS has officially launched its new Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, marking a significant expansion in its presence in India. The inauguration, attended by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and senior UBS executives, took place on February 11, 2026. This new facility is set to create nearly 3,000 job opportunities over the next two years, underscoring UBS’s long-term commitment to the region.

The Gachibowli location emphasizes Hyderabad’s burgeoning reputation as a global hub for high-value financial technology and operational excellence. Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted the city’s appeal to leading financial institutions, attributing it to a skilled talent pool and supportive advantages. “Hyderabad has become a preferred destination for prestigious financial firms. UBS’s decision to enhance its presence here showcases the city’s credibility as a center of global talent and innovation,” he stated.

Sridhar Babu noted that Telangana has developed an ecosystem conducive to advanced software development and deep-tech engineering, fostering consistent growth and scale. He reiterated the confidence global industries place in the state’s institutional stability and progressive policies, emphasizing that all of the world’s top ten financial institutions now operate in Hyderabad.

Matthias Schacke, Country Head India Service Company and Group Technology Officer at UBS, shared insights about the strategic importance of Hyderabad. He remarked, “Hyderabad continues to be vital for UBS’s growth, aided by a robust talent pool, favorable policies, and excellent infrastructure. We are excited to expand our tech capabilities, particularly in areas such as AI, while growing our operational footprint.”

For over a decade, UBS has engaged Indian teams in its global operations, spanning technology, finance, and shared services. The new office aims to facilitate increased collaboration and leverage diverse expertise, especially in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence. Schacke emphasized that this expansion will enhance UBS’s ability to integrate into advanced financial and technology ecosystems worldwide.

Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary of the State IT Department, encapsulated the essence of UBS’s new center in Hyderabad. He stated, “UBS’s experience in Hyderabad illustrates the potential that arises when global institutions thrive within an ecosystem designed for quality and future readiness. This facility will catalyze skill development and strengthen cross-border collaboration, further embedding Hyderabad in the global financial and technology value chains.”

As Hyderabad cements its status as a vibrant center for finance and technology, UBS’s new GCC not only signals a growing investment in the region but also a commitment to harnessing local talent to drive innovation and growth in the financial services sector.

The launch reflects a broader trend of leading multinational companies recognizing the strategic advantages of establishing operations in Hyderabad, a city that continues to attract global giants with its potent blend of talent, technology, and infrastructure. With UBS’s latest endeavor, the future of financial services in Hyderabad looks promising, poised to contribute significantly to both local and global markets.

Hyderabad, the city that continually draws esteemed institutions, is set to benefit immensely from UBS’s landmark investments, reinforcing its role as a key player on the global financial landscape.
