Join the Rising Force: ‘Agnikanya’ Gyanashree Bora Enters the Party
On Thursday, Dr. Jnanashree Bora, a former assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at Goalpara College, officially joined the Raijor Dal party. This took place at an event in Sixmile, Guwahati, in the presence of the party president, Akhil Gogoi.
In her announcement to enter politics, Dr. Bora stated that she aims to promote unity and compassion against hatred and division. Referring to herself as Assam’s “daughter of fire,” she expressed her determination to work alongside the people to change the state’s political landscape.
Having recently resigned from her government position, Dr. Bora described her joining the party as akin to returning home. She was previously an active member of the Raijor Dal but had to step back during her tenure in government service. She characterized the current political climate as perilous for the new generation and emphasized her choice of taking a difficult path rather than an easy one. She advocates for inclusive politics that embraces all individuals, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or language.
Dr. Bora firmly rejected money-driven politics, asserting that she possesses no wealth and does not believe in buying support. Instead, she wishes to focus on addressing the real issues faced by the public. She stated that no one can buy her, and she will always stand against injustice. She underscored the urgency of new generations entering the political arena to bring about change, declaring that Thursday marked the true beginning of her active political life.
Akhil Gogoi hailed Dr. Bora’s joining as a significant day for Assam’s politics. However, he did not provide any clarity on whether Dr. Bora would contest in elections. Discussions are underway within the party regarding whether to nominate her from a specific constituency or assign her another role. He criticized the current government’s approach, likening college jobs to those of bonded laborers, driving qualified individuals like Dr. Bora to leave their jobs for politics.
Gogoi has sought public opinion from the Morioni constituency regarding Dr. Bora’s electoral journey. He stated that if the people desire her candidacy, the party would arrange for her to contest. He also noted that the residents of Morioni are eager to oust the current legislator. The Raijor Dal aims to send 15 to 20 representatives to the assembly in the upcoming elections. Gogoi encouraged Dr. Bora to deeply study politics and maintain direct relationships with grassroots-level individuals.
