Exciting New Routes: SpiceJet to Connect Imphal with Major Cities!
Budget carrier SpiceJet announced on January 30 that it will commence operations to Imphal, marking its first-ever flights to the capital city of Manipur. This development represents a significant enhancement of air connectivity in the Northeast region. Starting February 10, SpiceJet will offer daily flights from Kolkata, Guwahati, and Mumbai to Imphal using Boeing 737 aircraft. This initiative comes at a critical time when air links between Manipur and other major Indian cities remain limited.
Passengers flying from Kolkata and Guwahati will enjoy non-stop flights to Imphal. Those departing from Mumbai will have a single-aircraft journey with a brief stop in Kolkata, thus eliminating the need for a plane change. SpiceJet aims to provide “seamless and reliable connections” to the region, catering to both business and leisure travellers.
The airline emphasized the importance of this launch for Manipur, where options for air travel are still restricted. The new daily services are expected to enhance accessibility for local residents, students, medical patients, government employees, and businesses, while also increasing the available capacity and options for travel to and from the state.
In addition to direct flights to Kolkata, Guwahati, and Mumbai, the new services will enable passengers to connect to numerous domestic destinations and select international locations through SpiceJet’s extensive network.
SpiceJet’s Chief Business Officer Debojo Maharshi remarked on the significance of this milestone, stating, “The launch of our maiden flight to Imphal marks an important milestone for SpiceJet as we expand our footprint in the Northeast.” He further noted that improving connectivity in the region “has long been a priority,” asserting that the new flights will make travel to Manipur “more accessible and convenient for passengers across key metros.”
