Officials have confirmed that four Army columns have been deployed in sensitive areas, while the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Assam Police conduct continuous patrols in affected neighborhoods. On the night of Monday, a vehicle was attacked by a mob near Mansingh Road in the Karigaon area, leaving two individuals from the Adivasi community injured. The mob later set the vehicle ablaze. One injured person has since been discharged from the hospital, while the other succumbed to injuries during treatment.
Tensions escalated earlier on Tuesday when members of the Bodo and Adivasi communities blocked a national highway, set a government office on fire, and attacked a police outpost. Police responded with baton charges and tear gas to disperse the crowd, resulting in injuries to several individuals, including some police personnel.
Senior officials are closely monitoring the evolving situation, keeping additional forces at the ready. The administration has urged the public to maintain peace and cooperate with security agencies, emphasizing that strict action will be taken against those perpetrating violence while efforts to restore order continue.
