Armed Robbery at Petrol Pump in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi District
Early Sunday morning, a petrol pump in Niangbyrnai village, Ri Bhoi district, Meghalaya, was the site of an armed robbery. The incident occurred at around 5 am along National Highway 6. Four unidentified assailants stormed the establishment, targeting the station manager and several employees.
The manager, who was preparing to open for the day, was accosted by the robbers. They bound his hands and feet, similarly restraining other employees before proceeding to loot the petrol pump. Despite being overpowered, the manager attempted to resist the assailants and sustained injuries in the process.
According to the manager’s account, the robbers made off with over Rs 4 lakh, comprised of petrol sales from August 23 to 24. The Ri Bhoi district police have launched an investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and recover the stolen funds.
This incident adds to the growing concerns over safety and security in the region, as authorities work to bring the culprits to justice.
