Historic Triumph: Bangladesh Stuns with First-Ever Test Victory Over Pakistan in Rawalpindi!
Bangladesh achieved a historic milestone by securing their maiden Test victory over Pakistan, defeating them by 10 wickets on the fifth day of the first Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on August 25. Entering the day at 23/1 and trailing Bangladesh by 94 runs, Pakistan faced a spin onslaught from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan. Miraz took 4/21, while Shakib claimed 3/44, dismantling Pakistan for 146 runs in the second innings.
Bangladesh needed only 30 runs to win in the fourth innings, which openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam chased effortlessly, finishing unbeaten to seal the victory.
The trouble for Pakistan began early on the final day when Hasan Mahmud dismissed captain Shan Masood for 14 in the second over, a catch securely taken by keeper Litton Das. Despite a brief resistance from Babar Azam, who hit three boundaries to reach 22, he was bowled out by Nahid Rana, placing Pakistan in a precarious position at 66/3.
This triumph marks Bangladesh’s first Test win against Pakistan after 15 attempts. Significant contributions came from Mushfiqur Rahim, top scoring with a stellar 191, and Mehidy’s valuable 77, helping Bangladesh post an imposing 565 in their first innings.
