Tyson Fury’s Epic Return: The Comeback You Can’t Miss!
Former lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury announced on Sunday that he is coming out of retirement this year for his first fight since losing to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024. Fury had retired following a rematch with Ukraine’s Usyk, who became the undisputed champion after winning the first bout by split decision. Usyk remains the only boxer to defeat Fury, whose professional record stands at 34 wins, two losses, and one draw.
“2026 is that year. Return of the Mac. Been away for a while but I’m back now, 37 years old and still punching. Nothing better to do than punch men in the face & get paid for it,” Fury shared on Instagram. Known as ‘The Gypsy King,’ Fury previously took more than two and a half years off from boxing to address mental health issues following his victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, where he captured the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.
He made his comeback to the ring in 2018 and knocked out Deontay Wilder in February 2020 to capture the WBC heavyweight belt. Fury announced his retirement again in 2022 but returned six months later.
Fellow Briton and former champion Anthony Joshua has called out Fury for a fight multiple times, including following his recent knockout win over Jake Paul. “If Tyson Fury is as serious as he thinks he is… step in the ring with me next, if you’re a real bad boy. Don’t do all that talking, AJ this, AJ that. Let’s see you in the ring and talk with your fists,” Joshua challenged last month.
Recently, Joshua spent a few days in the hospital after suffering minor injuries in a car crash in Nigeria that tragically claimed the lives of two friends. He was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, just a day before authorities charged his driver with dangerous driving in connection with the fatal incident.
