TURA: The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has made a significant drug bust in the South West Garo Hills, seizing 1.666 kilograms of marijuana during an operation in the Kalaichar Police Post area. The operation was conducted following specific intelligence received by the ANTF, which led them to the Jangari vicinity.
In this operation, two individuals were arrested: Faruk Sheikh, aged 48, from Mahendraganj, and Md Bolurudin Bepari, aged 19, from the Beparipara region of Mahendraganj. Both have been linked to the possession of illegal narcotics and are facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
This seizure marks a crucial effort in combating drug-related activities in the region, reflecting ANTF’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community safety. Law enforcement officials believe that ongoing operations and strict enforcement of the NDPS Act will deter unlawful drug trade in the area. Authorities continue to gather intelligence and monitor locations known for illicit drug activities, aiming to bring more offenders to justice.
