Tina Datta’s Outrage Over Harrowing Kolkata Rape Tragedy: Claims CM and Police Complicity
Kolkata-born actress and Bigg Boss 16 fame Tina Datta has voiced her fury over the gruesome rape and murder of a resident doctor at a Kolkata hospital, highlighting the ongoing safety concerns for women in her hometown. Tina called out the lack of accountability from authorities and pointed fingers at the Chief Minister and police, suggesting their complicity in the cover-up of the crime.
Drawing from personal experiences, Tina mentioned, “When I used to reside in Kolkata or even today, I am not allowed to step outside my house post 8:00 PM. This clearly explains the safety and security of the city.” She criticized the investigation’s integrity and the swift cover-up attempts, hinting at the involvement of a TMC party member in the crime. “It’s shameful and hurtful that the incident is being covered up by ministers, with evidence supposedly wiped out,” Tina remarked.
Tina was deeply troubled by how postmortem and cremation processes were allegedly mishandled to destroy evidence. “In the Crematorium grounds, she was third in line, but they put her first to erase evidence,” Tina said. She demanded action against those in charge, questioning why the principal or district magistrate hadn’t been arrested.
Accusing the police of complicity, Tina contended that the police must have orders from higher authorities, including the state’s Chief Minister. She expressed frustration over India’s slow judicial process by referencing the Nirbhaya case, which took 12 years to conclude.
Tina also shared her own harrowing experiences of molestation, stressing the persistent danger women and children face. “Very rarely do victims speak out due to shame, fear, or being molested by family members,” she stated. Tina concluded with a powerful call for stricter laws and severe punishments for rapists: “Our PM should incorporate strict rules and laws against rape and chop off their thing the moment they rape.”
