Urgent Protests in Boko Demand Inclusion of 312 Villages in Council
A sit-in protest lasting two hours took place in Boko on Tuesday, November 18, advocating for the inclusion of various Bodo-inhabited regions under the Bodo-Kachari Autonomous Council. The demonstration was organized by the Bodo United People’s Forum of the South Kamrup district and occurred in front of the Boko–Chaygaon sub-divisional office.
Protesters presented an eight-point charter of demands, prominently calling for the integration of 312 Bodo villages located across the South Kamrup and Goalpara districts into the autonomous council. They emphasized that failure to address these requests would lead to intensified protests in the future.
As part of the protest program, the demonstrators submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the sub-divisional administration. Additionally, members of the South Kamrup Bodo Students’ Union joined the protest, lending their support to the demands expressed by the protesters.
