JP Nadda Critiques Lalu-Rabri Era, Advocates for Nitish Kumar’s Re-election

As the Bihar Assembly elections approach, prominent political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, are actively engaging in a war of words. With 7.43 crore eligible voters ready to determine the fate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan, the stakes are high for the elections set for November 6 and 11.

On Saturday, BJP National President and Union Minister JP Nadda criticized the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), labeling the tenure of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi as a “dark era” for Bihar. He pointed out that the nomination of Osama Shahab, the son of the late gangster-turned-politician Mohammad Shahabuddin, reflects the RJD’s unchanged culture and values.

Speaking virtually at election rallies in Siwan and Muzaffarpur, Nadda claimed that kidnapping became an “industry” during the RJD regime, with ransom negotiations taking place at the chief minister’s residence. “Bihar experienced ‘jungle raj’ under the RJD’s governance, leading to a collapse of law and order and a surge in kidnappings,” he stated.

Nadda noted the lasting influence of Shahabuddin in Siwan, saying, “The district once suffered under his terror, and now the RJD has nominated his son again. It seems Lalu Prasad’s party aims to reestablish ‘jungle raj’ in Bihar.” He accused the RJD of maintaining a legacy of lawlessness, stating that it continues to embody extortion, anarchy, and intimidation.

Osama Shahab is contesting from Siwan’s Raghunathpur seat as the party’s candidate. Nadda urged voters to remember the significant issues from Lalu Prasad’s era and appreciate the development initiatives undertaken by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He cautioned against voting for the RJD, highlighting that its leaders are currently out on bail.

Alleging that the law and order situation deteriorated entirely during RJD rule, Nadda recounted how instances of kidnapping were commonplace, especially targeting professionals like doctors and engineers. He asserted that significant development in Bihar began after 2005 and called for renewed stability under the NDA government led by CM Kumar.

In a broader context, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched his own attack on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party, accusing them of failing the people they profess to serve. He referenced past promises made during the 2023 Telangana elections, specifically Gandhi’s pledge to support auto drivers, which he claims remain unfulfilled two years later.

KTR warned that as Congress joins the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, voters should be wary of history repeating itself. “The same storyline is emerging: grand promises followed by significant disappointment. Telangana’s auto drivers were deceived once; the people of Bihar must not fall victim again,” he cautioned.
