Assam’s Bold Action: 37 Bangladeshis Pushed Back Amid Rising Infiltration Concerns
Assam authorities repatriated 37 Bangladeshi nationals to their home country, a move announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday. This action highlights the state government’s firm stance on illegal immigration.
Sarma shared blurred images of the repatriated individuals on X, referring to the operation conducted in the Sribhumi sector as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal infiltration in Assam. “Goodbye infiltrators; your time’s up in Assam. All unwanted guests will be treated with the same gesture,” he stated, reiterating his administration’s commitment to addressing the issue.
Although details on the specific timing of the operation were not disclosed, Sarma mentioned that the state is conducting a weekly pushback operation, regularly sending back 35 to 40 individuals, thereby circumventing prolonged legal deportation processes. The Chief Minister affirmed that the goal remains to identify and remove all illegal immigrants from Assam, underscoring the administration’s resolute approach to border security and immigration control.
