Superstar Rajinikanth has officially confirmed that he will collaborate with his friend Kamal Haasan for a new film following the completion of Jailer 2. This announcement comes just a week after Kamal Haasan revealed their upcoming project during the NEXA SIIMA Awards ceremony, marking their first onscreen partnership in 46 years. Haasan eloquently noted, “We were united long ago, but chose to remain apart because they kept splitting a biscuit and giving us only half each. We wanted a full biscuit each, and we got it and relished it well. Now we are content with just half a biscuit again, so we have come together.”
Raijikanth shared more details about their collaboration, stating that it will be a joint production between Raajkamal Films and Red Giant Movies. However, the director and script for the film have yet to be finalized. He expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, indicating, “We are looking forward to a story to work together again now.”
Speculation had suggested that the film might be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who recently collaborated with Rajinikanth on the film Coolie. Rajinikanth conveyed shared excitement about their reunion, emphasizing the necessity of finding the right story and characters to proceed with the project.
Both actors began their careers in the 1970s under the guidance of the legendary filmmaker K. Balachandar. Throughout the decades, they have maintained parallel careers in Tamil cinema, consistently securing their status at the forefront of the film industry with numerous hits. Their last movie together was Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum in 1979, making this upcoming collaboration particularly significant for both fans and the film community.
