Guwahati’s Pan Bazar Railway Overbridge Set for Exciting Inauguration هذا الشهر!
Guwahati: The much-anticipated Pan Bazar railway overbridge is nearing completion, offering hope for relief to the city’s commuters. According to a senior official from the North East Frontier Railway (NFR), “95 percent of the work is complete. All major structural elements have been finished, and surfacing work is currently underway. We expect the project to be completed within this month.”
This new overbridge, which spans 60 meters, is part of a significant infrastructure project aimed at alleviating the persistent traffic congestion that has troubled the Pan Bazar area for years. The construction is being handled by a Kolkata-based firm, designed to create a modern structure capable of meeting growing transportation needs.
Engineered with advanced clearances, the bridge will remove the speed restrictions currently in place due to limitations of the older structure. Once operational, it will facilitate the seamless movement of electric locomotives beneath it.
When inquired about the expected opening date for public use, the NFR official mentioned, “I cannot confirm the exact timing of the opening at the moment, but it is likely to be opened soon.” The entire project has been executed at an estimated cost of ₹47 crore.
Upon completion, the overbridge is expected to significantly reduce traffic snarls for commuters and enhance the efficiency of rail and road transport integration in the area.
