World Bank Invests Rs 1,400 Crore to Transform Tribal Lives in West Tripura
The Adi Karma Yogi Abhiyan 2025, a key initiative of the Central Government, has officially launched in the West District of Tripura, backed by a substantial Rs 1,400 crore fund from the World Bank. This program is designed to address developmental gaps in tribal regions and aims to facilitate a fully developed Tripura by 2047.
During a press conference, West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar outlined the project’s scope, which will encompass 47 village committees across three subdivisions, eight blocks, and 35 revenue villages within the district. He emphasized that coordinating efforts among multiple government departments-including Tribal Welfare, Health, Education, Social Welfare, Rural Development, Panchayat, Drinking Water, Construction, and ARDD-will be essential for achieving comprehensive development.
Dr. Kumar highlighted that saturation camps have already been conducted under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Udna Gram Yojana, which provided tribals with vital services, including the issuance of various certificates. The Adi Karma Yogi Abhiyan aims to fill existing service gaps and elevate all developmental indicators in tribal areas to target levels by 2030. He noted that the World Bank’s commitment of Rs 1,400 crore is crucial, with additional funding to be pursued from the Central Government as needed.
As part of this initiative, a series of workshops and training sessions have been scheduled. From September 17 to October 2, during the ‘Seva Parva’ event, various departments will organize workshops aimed at community development. An orientation and skill development training for District Master Trainers is set to take place on September 20 at the West District Magistrate’s Conference Hall.
Further training sessions are planned for Village Master Trainers, members of the three-tier Panchayat system, and Self-Help Group members from September 23-25, October 7-10, October 13-24, and October 27-31 in designated block and village committee offices. These trained individuals will be instrumental in developing Village Action Plans to address specific service gaps in tribal communities.
Additional District Magistrate Arup Deb and District Tribal Welfare Officer Uttam Bhowmik were also present at the press briefing, underscoring the collaborative nature of this significant developmental push.
