Priya Marathe, a beloved figure in Indian television known for her roles in popular shows like “Pavitra Rishta” and “Kasamh Se,” passed away at the age of 38 on Sunday after a prolonged battle with cancer. Her unexpected departure has sent shockwaves through the television industry, with co-stars and industry colleagues expressing profound sadness and condolences.
Marathe’s brother, actor Subodh Bhave, honored her legacy in an emotional Instagram tribute. “Priya was not only a great actress but also my cousin sister,” he wrote, reflecting on her dedication to her craft and spirit. Bhave shared insights into her struggle, noting that despite being diagnosed with cancer several years ago, she returned to acting, showcasing her talent and resilience until the end. “She was a fighter, but ultimately her strength fell short,” he said, offering heartfelt prayers for her peace.
Usha Nadkarni, Marathe’s co-star from “Pavitra Rishta,” reminisced about her infectious laughter and warmth. “I truly don’t understand why God takes such young souls,” Nadkarni remarked. Despite knowing Marathe had returned to work after her treatment, she was informed of a worsening condition, leaving her heartbroken. “I wanted to visit her, but I was told she wasn’t feeling well about her appearance due to chemotherapy,” she explained.

Reflecting on Marathe’s growth as both an actress and individual, Anand stated, “She never lost courage in her fight against illness.
