Cracker Barrel Takes Bold Stand: Scraps Controversial Logo Amid Trump Criticism

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store has decided to reverse its contentious rebranding strategy, announcing the move on Tuesday. The company expressed appreciation for the feedback it received from customers, stating, “We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away, and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain.”

In reaffirming its commitment to its roots, Cracker Barrel emphasized its mission: “At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been — and always will be — about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family. As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon.”

Following the announcement, the company’s stock experienced a rise in after-hours trading, reflecting investor sentiment amid the news. The decision to revert to the previous logo came shortly after former President Donald Trump weighed in on the rebranding, suggesting that Cracker Barrel should return to its original logo, admit its missteps, and leverage the situation for better management and public relations.

“They got a billion dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, encouraging Cracker Barrel to hold a major news conference to reclaim its stature in the market. Moments later, Deputy White House Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich echoed this sentiment on X, attributing credit for the reversal to Trump’s influence: “President Trump spoke, @CrackerBarrel listened.”

Trump’s remarks followed a wave of criticism from his son, Donald Trump Jr., who had vocally condemned the rebranding, questioning, “WTF is wrong with @CrackerBarrel?!” This was after Cracker Barrel’s stock took a hit following the unveiling of its new logo, which had been widely criticized on social media as “soulless,” “bland,” and “generic.”

The rebrand originally featured a logo that removed the beloved “Uncle Herschel” character and the iconic yellow barrel, replacing it with a more simplistic design that only included the words “Cracker Barrel.” The backlash from conservatives and loyal customers was palpable, with many expressing frustration over the departure from the brand’s traditional imagery.

In an earlier statement, the company acknowledged the backlash, saying, “If the last few days have shown us anything, it’s how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel. We’re truly grateful for your heartfelt voices.” The company admitted it could have done a better job of communicating its identity, signaling a willingness to return to its core values.

With this decision, Cracker Barrel aims to restore customer confidence and honor its legacy of country hospitality and comfort food. As the company moves forward, it remains committed to listening to its patrons and ensuring its brand reflects the sentiment of the communities it serves.

As Cracker Barrel inches back toward its original identity, the resolving of this branding issue serves as a reminder of the power of customer voices in shaping corporate decisions.
