During Operation Sindoor in early May, India successfully shot down two AWACS surveillance aircraft belonging to the Pakistan Air Force. One of these aircraft was downed from a distance of 314 kilometers using India’s S-400 air defense system, while the other was destroyed in an attack on an airbase. This incident has significantly impaired Pakistan’s surveillance capabilities, reportedly by about 70 percent. In a recent development, however, the Pakistan Air Force has inducted the Bombardier Global 6000, an aircraft claimed to possess a surveillance range of 500 kilometers.

Pakistan has modified the Bombardier Global 6000 to enhance its electronic warfare capabilities. With assistance from Turkey, the aircraft has been equipped with the Aselsan HAVA SOJ system, designed to improve stand-off jamming and surveillance against enemy air defenses. Using expertise from Turkish defense firms, including Aselsan and Turkish Aerospace Industries, Pakistan has transformed this aircraft into a sophisticated electronic warfare platform.

The operational capacity of the Pakistan Air Force is expected to increase significantly with this aircraft. The Global 6000 features Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA)-based Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM) jammers, wideband electronic intelligence (ELINT) sensors, communication denial systems, and radar deception gear. It is reported that the Global 6000 can disrupt enemy networks from over 500 kilometers away, allowing the Pakistan Air Force to operate safely at high altitudes while providing tactical advantages to its attack squadrons. Sources indicate that the aircraft has already been integrated into the strategic mission planning of the Pakistan Air Force.

A senior official from the Pakistan Air Force, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed to The Khyber Mail that the induction of this aircraft marks a major advancement in their electronic warfare capabilities. The Global 6000, equipped with the HAVA SOJ system, offers persistent high-altitude electronic warfare capabilities, thereby enhancing Pakistan’s defensive posture. Furthermore, Turkey has previously modified several Global 6000 aircraft for its Air Force, with Pakistan’s version specifically tailored to address regional security threats.
