AAP Leaders Celebrate Arvind Kejriwal’s Birthday Amidst Controversy
Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia extended heartfelt birthday wishes to the imprisoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, praising him for his unwavering fight against what he termed as the "dictatorship" prevailing in the country. Sisodia lauded Kejriwal as a "patriotic and revolutionary leader" who has chosen jail over submitting to authoritarian rule.
In a poignant post on social media platform ‘X’, Sisodia remarked, "Happy birthday to the Chief Minister of Delhi, my dear friend and political guru Arvind Kejriwal ji, who fought the toughest battle against the dictatorship going on in the country. Today, the country’s democracy is imprisoned in the form of Arvind Kejriwal."
The AAP has organized a series of events to mark Kejriwal’s birthday, underscoring the party’s sentiment that "Arvind Kejriwal is an idea that gets stronger the more it is suppressed." Among those paying tribute was Delhi Minister Atishi, who hailed Kejriwal as a "revolutionary of modern India" and expressed optimism about his imminent release. "Today is the birthday of Arvind Kejriwal, the revolutionary of modern India, who changed the condition of Delhi with his governance model. Gave new hope to the people of Delhi with his honest politics. Arvind Ji, who shaped the future of millions while fighting dictatorship, is today in jail in a false case. But truth will prevail and the favourite Chief Minister of Delhiites will come out," she stated on ‘X’.
Kejriwal, also the AAP national convener, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with a money-laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. Although the Supreme Court has granted him interim bail, he remains in custody due to a related arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
