Powerful Action: Nellore Municipal Corporation Intensifies Battle Against Unauthorized Constructions!
In a decisive move to combat unauthorized constructions in Nellore, officials from the Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) demolished several buildings on Wednesday as part of an intensified crackdown on illegal developments. NMC Commissioner Y.O. Nandan has stressed the importance of addressing road encroachments and the proliferation of illegal structures throughout the city.
During a site visit near the A.C. Subba Reddy Vegetable Market, close to the Madras Bus Stand, Commissioner Nandan directed municipal officials to clear encroachments obstructing road margins caused by nearby shops. Emphasizing the need for regular monitoring of the market, he highlighted the necessity of preventing vendors from re-establishing roadside shops that disrupt traffic flow.
This demolition initiative aligns with the NMC’s broader strategy to enforce regulations more stringently. Following the Commissioner’s orders, the Town Planning Department took action against three buildings located in Venkataramapuram and James Garden, which featured unauthorized additional floors constructed without proper permits. “Notices have already been served and demolition orders handed to the owners of these unauthorized structures,” Nandan explained. While the building owners had previously announced their intent to voluntarily remove the illegal additions, they failed to act within the allotted time frame, prompting the Town Planning Department to initiate the demolition process.
The crackdown is part of a larger initiative to identify and dismantle illegal constructions throughout Nellore. In line with this effort, the Commissioner has instructed planning officials and Ward Secretariat Planning Secretaries to focus on buildings constructed without permits, particularly at critical stages like the pillar stage. Recently, three under-construction apartment complexes in the Haranathapuram Extension area were flagged for lacking essential permits, with the building owners instructed to cease work immediately.
Furthermore, charges have been lodged against the owners of three other properties exceeding permit guidelines. Commissioner Nandan has prioritized the identification of commercial buildings operating without occupancy certificates, directing officials to issue notices to offenders. The municipality is also addressing the proliferation of unauthorized flex signboards and advertisements cluttering the roadsides.
This rigorous enforcement signals NMC’s commitment to restoring order in urban planning and ensuring compliance with building regulations, reflecting a broader initiative to enhance public safety and manage urban growth effectively. As unauthorized constructions and encroachments have become increasingly prevalent in urban landscapes across India, NMC’s actions serve as an important reminder of the need for adherence to municipal regulations.
The recent proactive measures by the Nellore Municipal Corporation demonstrate a significant step towards curbing illegal construction practices, ensuring a more organized and navigable cityscape for residents and visitors alike. The ongoing efforts highlight the importance of municipal governance in maintaining infrastructure integrity and managing urban expansion. As the situation evolves, the NMC’s commitment to enforcing building regulations will be closely monitored by the community and stakeholders.
