Prepare for Intense Rainfall: Nagaland Faces Heavy Showers Until August 9
Nagaland is bracing for heavy rainfall across nearly all districts until August 9, according to the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) in its latest weather update released on Wednesday. The districts of Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, and Tuensang are particularly expected to experience intense rainfall on August 7 and August 8.
These downpours may bring along thunderstorms and lightning in localized areas. During this time, intermittent rainfall is also anticipated throughout Nagaland.
The NSDMA emphasized the importance of taking precautionary measures during this weather event to avoid dangers such as lightning strikes and high winds, which could disrupt communication and connectivity. The lowland and foothill areas of Nagaland, including Dimapur, Niuland, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli, are at heightened risk for flooding and waterlogging due to the potential for excessive rainfall in the hill regions.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and take care to prevent any unfortunate incidents during this period. The NSDMA has instructed all district disaster management authorities and relevant departments to maintain a state of high alert to protect lives and property as the monsoon season progresses.
