Tragedy Strikes: NYPD Officer and Civilians Shot in Manhattan Incident
In an active shootout at Park Avenue Tower in Midtown Manhattan, at least one officer from the New York Police Department (NYPD) and two civilians were shot on Monday evening. The tower houses major firms, including finance giant Blackstone and the National Football League (NFL).
The New York Fire Department confirmed that emergency crews were dispatched following reports of gunfire at the office building around 6:30 PM, as reported by the Associated Press.
Authorities are currently searching for a man armed with a long rifle, who was seen walking inside the building. The police believe the suspect may still be inside, according to sources cited by CNN.
In a statement on social media, NYPD advised residents to avoid the area around East 52nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue, warning of potential delays and emergency vehicle activity.
FBI agents and management personnel are also responding to the situation to assist at the crime scene, as confirmed by FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino on X.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams urged citizens to exercise caution and avoid going outside if they are near Park Avenue and East 51st Street. He stated, “There is an active shooter investigation taking place in Midtown right now.”
As of now, there are no updates on the condition of those who were shot. The situation remains ongoing, with authorities actively managing the scene to ensure public safety.
