Tragic Road Accident Near Vedasandur Claims Two Lives: A Heartbreaking Reminder of Safety on Our Roads
Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a road accident near Vedasandur in the Dindigul district on Thursday when a lorry collided with a van carrying farmers from the Theni district. The incident occurred as the farmers were journeying to Natrayan Swamy Temple in Vellakovil, Erode district, to observe Aadi Amavasai.
According to local police reports, approximately 20 farmers from Poosari Kavundanpatti set out in the van for this religious pilgrimage. While cruising along the Dindigul-Karur Highway near Ayyarmadam, the van’s driver, Ranjith Kumar, attempted to pull over in front of a bakery for a tea and snacks break. Unfortunately, a lorry travelling behind failed to stop in time and crashed into the van.
The impact of the collision resulted in the deaths of Ranjith Kumar and another farmer, identified as Vasagar. Emergency services swiftly transported the injured farmers to the Vedasandur Government Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, several were later transferred to the Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital for continued care.
In the wake of the accident, the Vedasandur police have registered a case and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are expected to delve into the lorry driver’s actions, road conditions, and other contributing factors to ensure a thorough examination of the incident.
