Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand met with Manoj Govil, Secretary (Coordination) of the Union Cabinet Secretariat, at the State Secretariat on Friday to discuss the critical topic of deregulation and compliance reduction aimed at simplifying laws for improved trade practices. Govil, who is part of the Task Force Committee on Deregulation and Compliance Reduction under the Ease of Trade initiative, highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s proactive stance in aligning state laws with deregulation efforts.

During the meeting, Govil noted that the state has been making significant strides in amending regulations to benefit its citizens. He emphasized that changes, additions, and simplifications to existing laws are being introduced to mirror Central government initiatives, thereby enhancing the ease of trade. Furthermore, he urged state officials to adhere strictly to national regulations, especially concerning fire safety measures in multi-storey buildings.

Vijayanand shared the state government’s commitment to reducing regulatory burdens and enhancing compliance across various sectors. He reported that modifications have already been implemented in 76 laws to streamline operations. He remarked on the government’s efforts to leverage technology to provide timely and efficient services, particularly through the innovative WhatsApp governance initiative, which offers 520 different services to citizens.

To further bolster the ease of doing business, the government is making digital technologies available across all departments. The implementation of a single-window clearance system is also being prioritized to ensure that necessary approvals are granted in a timely manner. This initiative is part of a broader objective to enhance the business environment and foster growth within the state.

The meeting also saw the participation of several senior officials, including Special Chief Secretary G. Anantha Ramu (Environment, Forest and Science & Technology) and Principal Secretaries Kumar Vishwajeeth (Home), S. Suresh Kumar (Municipal Administration), and N. Yuvaraj (Industries). Their involvement underscores the united effort within the state administration to revamp business regulations and improve service delivery for the benefit of the people.

As Andhra Pradesh continues to lead in regulatory reforms, it sets an example for other states looking to enhance their business landscapes. The collaborative approach between state officials and central government representatives aims to create a more accessible and efficient trade environment, ultimately driving economic growth and improving governance.

By prioritizing deregulation and compliance reduction, Andhra Pradesh is not only simplifying its legal framework but also paving the way for a more robust economy that can adapt to the evolving demands of trade. The ongoing commitment to these reforms reflects a proactive governance model that seeks to empower both citizens and businesses alike.

This focus on modernization and efficiency aligns with current trends, making Andhra Pradesh a key player in the national landscape of ease of doing business. As these initiatives unfold, they hold the promise of delivering tangible benefits to the state’s residents and contributing to overall economic vitality.
