Heightened Tensions: Khamenei’s Advisor Warns of Retaliatory Strikes on US Bases Amid Iran-Israel War!

Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated significantly following recent U.S. airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear sites. On Sunday, the U.S. military launched an extensive operation, described as a strategic success, employing 14 bunker-buster bombs, over 125 military aircraft, and more than two dozen Tomahawk missiles. This aggressive approach has prompted fierce backlash from Tehran, which has threatened to target U.S. military bases across the Middle East.

Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared that any location used by American forces to strike Iran would be deemed a legitimate target for retaliation. “America has attacked the heart of the Islamic world and must await irreparable consequences,” Velayati stated, as reported by the official IRNA news agency. This statement underscores Iran’s commitment to responding decisively to perceived aggression.

The U.S. strikes represent a marked escalation in an ongoing conflict that has seen Israel conduct its own military operations against Iran since June 13. Reports indicate that Israeli airstrikes have resulted in at least 950 fatalities and over 3,450 injuries, according to a human rights organization cited by the AP news agency. The implications of these developments have led Iran to assert that the U.S. has effectively abandoned diplomatic channels regarding its nuclear program, stating that the Iranian military will determine the timing, nature, and scale of its response.

In the wake of these increased hostilities, the U.S. State Department issued a global travel alert for American citizens abroad, citing potential disruptions and demonstrations stemming from the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. The alert pointed out the heightened risk of travel interruptions and closures of airspace across the Middle East, advising caution for American travelers.

President Donald Trump characterized the U.S. military operations as a significant victory, emphasizing on social media that the strikes had effectively neutralized Iran’s nuclear capabilities. “We had a spectacular military success yesterday, taking the ‘bomb’ right out of their hands,” Trump remarked, reinforcing the justification for the military action.

In a related development, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged China to leverage its influence in the region to discourage Iran from considering a shutdown of the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz. This maritime passageway is vital for global oil and gas transport, accounting for approximately 20% of worldwide supply. Reports from Iran’s Press TV indicated that parliament had approved plans to close the Strait in retaliation for U.S. military actions.

As both sides navigate this perilous juncture in U.S.-Iran relations, the potential for further escalation looms large, raising concerns within the international community about security and stability in the region. The unfolding situation highlights the delicate balance of power in the Middle East and the far-reaching consequences of military engagement.
