Shaik Khalifatulla Bhasha, based in Ongole, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Unit of the All India Port Trust Workers Federation (AIPTWF). In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority, he emphasized that establishing an office on port premises would facilitate better communication and coordination between port workers and authorities. “The presence of our office within the port premises will greatly enhance coordination between port workers and authorities, and ensure timely redressal of grievances and implementation of welfare initiatives,” Chatterjee stated.
This initiative received further support during discussions with prominent government officials. Chatterjee spoke with Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, and Shantanu Thakur, the Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, both of whom expressed their commitment to assisting the federation in its outreach and activities. Their backing is expected to strengthen the federation’s efforts in advocating for worker rights and improving conditions within the maritime industry.
