Shocking Police Sweep: 36 ‘Illegal’ Bangladeshi Nationals Detained as Deportation Process Begins
The Delhi Police recently detained 36 Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in Bharat Nagar, South Delhi, a move underscoring ongoing concerns about illegal immigration. A senior police official revealed that during interrogations, one detainee admitted to entering India from Bangladesh overland, helping authorities identify the remainder of the group living unlawfully in the area. DCP (North West) Bhisham Singh reported that the police recovered 13 identity cards belonging to the detainees and seven mobile phones containing the banned IMO app, commonly used for cross-border communication.
The individuals were reportedly residing in makeshift shelters that typically do not require official documentation. Investigations revealed that many had previously worked in a brick kiln in Mewat, Haryana, before fleeing the region due to impending police action. They then sought temporary refuge on Delhi’s footpaths, frequently relocating to evade detection.
