Sikkim Governor Meets PM Modi: A Strategic Discussion for Progress
Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday. During this visit, Mathur extended the Governor’s best wishes to Modi on behalf of the people of Sikkim, coinciding with the state’s celebration of 50 years of statehood, as reported by the Raj Bhavan.
The meeting covered several developmental initiatives and welfare programs for Sikkim. Prime Minister Modi underscored the Central Government’s commitment to supporting Sikkim, aiming to establish it as a model state in India. Mathur highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the state for the permanent settlement of local residents in border villages and for enhancing rural infrastructure, as part of the Vibrant Village Programme.
In addition to his meeting with the Prime Minister, the Governor also had a courtesy call with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the same day. During this discussion, Mathur informed Shah about different Central government-sponsored programs active in Sikkim and sought his guidance and support for the state’s development. The brief meeting also addressed several security-related issues, as indicated in the Raj Bhavan’s release.
