Heartbreaking Journey: Doctor Couple’s Aspirations in the UK Crumble
A tragic turn of events unfolded for a doctor couple from Rajasthan, whose dreams of a new life in the UK ended in disaster. Their flight, Air India 171, destined for London-Gatwick, crashed just seconds after taking off from Ahmedabad on Thursday, June 13. Within 32 seconds in the air, the aircraft failed to maintain altitude, descending rapidly before crashing into a building, leading to a catastrophic explosion that resulted in the deaths of 241 individuals on board and additional fatalities among those on the ground.
Doctor Komi Vyas, formerly employed at a hospital in Udaipur, had recently resigned to join her husband, Dr. Prateek Joshi, who had moved to London earlier. Earlier that week, Dr. Joshi returned to Banswara, Rajasthan, to bring his wife and three children with him. According to a family member, Nayan, the couple traveled to Ahmedabad the day before the flight, accompanied by several relatives who came to bid them farewell.
A heartbreaking selfie taken by Dr. Joshi shortly before the flight shows the family together, radiating joy. In the image, Dr. Joshi and his wife are seated with their twin boys, Nakul and Pradyut, aged five, and their eight-year-old daughter, Miraya, across the aisle. Their smiles reflect the excitement of embarking on a new journey, now serving as a poignant reminder of the fleeting moments they shared before tragedy struck. This photo has since gone viral, touching the hearts of many and portraying the fragility of life.
This incident marks a profound loss, not just for the family but for the larger community, as it highlights the unpredictable nature of fate and the deep sorrow that accompanies such sudden tragedies.
