Powerful Strike: Over 7,139 kg of Ganja Uprooted by Enforcement Bureau CID in a Year of Triumph!

The Tamil Nadu Police’s Enforcement Bureau CID (EB CID) has made significant strides in combating drug trafficking this year, destroying over 7,139 kg of ganja and other narcotics. This extensive eradication effort reflects the department’s commitment to maintaining public safety and tackling substance abuse.

On May 30, 2025, authorities incinerated 3,510.68 kg of dry ganja, 0.860 kg of methamphetamine, and 239.600 kg of ganja chocolate at an authorized treatment facility in Thenmelpakkam, Chengalpattu district. The seized contraband, valued at approximately ₹4 crore across 112 cases, symbolizes the ongoing war against illegal narcotics. Additional Director General of Police A. Amalraj was on-site to supervise the operation and issued firm directives to ensure the thorough and timely destruction of all seized narcotic materials.

As of this year, the NIB CID Police have destroyed a staggering total, which includes not only dry ganja but also 74.150 kg of hashish, 58 kg of charas, 1 kg of heroin, and 241 kg of ganja chocolate, all from 355 individual cases. This robust initiative showcases the agency’s proactive stance on drug enforcement and harm reduction.

In a parallel operation, the Avadi City Police also contributed to the fight against narcotics on the same day, incinerating over 70 kg of ganja and other illicit substances. These drugs had been confiscated from 84 separate cases, reinforcing the collective efforts of the Tamil Nadu Police in tackling drug-related crimes. Additional Commissioner of Police K. Bhuvaneswari oversaw the incineration, emphasizing the local police’s role in maintaining community safety.

Over the past two years, significant quantities of ganja have been destroyed by the Avadi City Police, amounting to 721 kg from 106 cases. This consistent effort reflects a broader strategy aimed at dismantling drug networks and protecting communities from the dangers associated with narcotics.

The ongoing vigilance and proactive measures by the Tamil Nadu Police illustrate their commitment to public health and safety. By targeting drug trade operations and destroying seized substances, law enforcement agencies send a strong message to traffickers and users alike: that the fight against drugs is far from over.

As this impactful year continues, authorities remain steadfast in their mission, employing a rigorous approach to meet the challenges of narcotic enforcement, thereby contributing to a safer Tamil Nadu.

With the focus on high-risk substances and public awareness, the province aims to cultivate a drug-free environment, underpinning the importance of community engagement alongside law enforcement efforts. Each destroyed kilogram represents not just a law-enforcement victory, but a commitment to the health and safety of citizens.

In a time when drug abuse poses a significant societal challenge, the Tamil Nadu Police’s consistent actions provide hope for a better, drug-free future. As these initiatives unfold, the call for community cooperation and awareness remains critical, ensuring ongoing progress in the battle against narcotics.
