Kareena Kapoor Champions Revolutionary Menstrual Health Initiative in Gujarat Schools
Mumbai, May 28: Kareena Kapoor has taken to social media to support a transformative menstrual health initiative aimed at schools in Gujarat. The actress praised the state for its commitment to creating safe and inclusive environments where students can learn about menstruation. She emphasized the importance of awareness over stigma, which she regards as essential for fostering a period-friendly society. In an Instagram post this Wednesday, the ‘Udta Punjab’ star highlighted how the initiative, developed by the Government of Gujarat with support from UNICEF India, is revolutionizing the education around menstruation for both girls and boys.
Kareena outlined that the initiative includes specially designed educational corners equipped with engaging tools such as card games, role-play aprons, interactive models, and easy-to-understand booklets. These resources aim to provide accessible and stigma-free menstrual health education.
In her post, she shared photos featuring young girls and wrote, “Periods aren’t a problem… lack of awareness is. That’s why Gujarat’s schools now have Menstrual Corners which are safe, welcoming spaces where students learn about periods through simple and engaging tools.” She noted that this groundbreaking initiative is not only breaking taboos but is also helping normalize the conversation around menstruation. Kareena added, “With over 103,000 girls and 88,000 boys already reached, it’s not just boosting awareness; it’s building confidence and dignity while helping girls stay in school to chase their dreams. Let’s keep supporting open conversations and safe environments for every student. #PeriodFriendlyWorld #MHDay2025 #MenstruationMatters.”
On the professional front, the 44-year-old actress was recently seen in the action film ‘Singham Again,’ directed by Rohit Shetty, where she starred alongside a notable ensemble, including Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, and Tiger Shroff. Looking ahead, Kareena is reportedly preparing to collaborate with director Meghna Gulzar on a project tentatively titled ‘Daayra,’ which is rumored to feature popular Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in a significant role. While excitement builds among fans, an official announcement regarding the film is still awaited.
