India’s Bold Response to Pakistan’s Lisbon Protest: Operation Sindoor Explained
The Indian embassy in Portugal has firmly addressed a pro-Pakistan demonstration that took place outside its chancery, asserting that India will not be intimidated by “desperate provocations.” The embassy made its position clear in a post on X, stating it had responded decisively with ‘Operation Sindoor’ to the demonstration, which it characterized as “cowardly.” Under Operation Sindoor, India executed precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7, following a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
In its social media post, the embassy emphasized, “India will not be intimidated by such desperate provocations. Our resolve remains unshaken.” It also expressed gratitude to the Portuguese government and police for their support in ensuring the safety and security of the embassy.
Additionally, India’s Ambassador to Portugal, Puneet Kundal, highlighted that the protesting group received a “silent yet strong and resolute message” that “Operation Sindoor is not yet over.” He noted that all embassy officers remained steadfast in this commitment.
Following the strikes conducted under Operation Sindoor, Pakistan attempted attacks on Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10. However, an understanding was reached between India and Pakistan to end the conflict on May 10, after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile exchanges.
