APCC Takes Action: Complains Against Madhya Pradesh Minister’s Comments

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has lodged a formal complaint against Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Kunwar Vijay Singh at the Dispur Police Station. This action follows Singh’s alleged derogatory remarks made on May 12 in Indore regarding Col Sofiya Qureshi, a senior official overseeing press briefings on Operation Sindoor. Bandeep Dutta, a spokesperson for the APCC, condemned Singh’s comments, stating, “Singh said that Sofiya Qureshi is the sister of terrorism. In the light of such a situation, making such statements against the Indian armed forces by a Cabinet minister of a BJP-ruled state is not right.”

Dutta emphasized that both the APCC and the Civic and Social Outreach Congress are committed to filing complaints against Singh throughout Assam. He remarked, “Statements such as those made by Singh will not just jeopardize the sovereignty but also the unity and integrity of our country. We condemn the remarks made by Singh.” Furthermore, he urged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other senior ministers to join their efforts in lodging complaints against Singh across all police stations in Assam.

“The Chief Minister and other ministers are also citizens of the state and of this country. We urge them to file a complaint against Singh for his remarks on Col Qureshi,” Dutta stated. He cautioned that the ongoing conflict could be negatively impacted by such statements, affecting both the morale of the armed forces and the citizens.

The Congress party plans to register complaints against Singh in various districts such as Dhemaji, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Kamrup, Nalbari, and Darrang, in addition to Guwahati.
