Seamless Medical and Transport Services for Indian Haj Pilgrims

Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Suhel Khan conducted an inspection on Thursday of various functional desks, branch offices, and dispensaries designed to assist Indian Haj pilgrims. Accompanied by Indian Consul (Haj) Muhammed Abdul Jaleel and other coordinators, Khan reviewed these facilities in Makkah to ensure they cater effectively to the needs of the pilgrims. The Embassy of India in Riyadh shared updates on social media platform X, highlighting the comprehensive services set up for the pilgrims.

In addition to inspecting these facilities, Ambassador Khan examined the Azizia transport service in Makkah. This 24-hour transport system, provided by the Indian Haj Mission, ensures a seamless travel experience for pilgrims from their accommodations to the Haram Sharif.

The medical and accommodation provisions for Indian pilgrims are under continuous monitoring and assessment to guarantee quality services. The Indian Consul General in Jeddah, Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, held a review meeting with officials and staff involved in temporary branch offices and dispensaries established for Haj 2025 in Mecca.

A significant moment arose on Wednesday when Ambassador Khan and his wife, Rifat Khan, welcomed an all-women group of pilgrims from Kerala at the Jeddah Haj Terminal. This event underscored the Indian government’s progressive ‘Lady Without Mehram’ (LWM) policy, which allows women to undertake Haj without a male companion.

To promote a smooth pilgrimage experience, Ambassador Khan also oversaw the arrival arrangements for Indian pilgrims at the Jeddah Haj Terminal, where he met with staff and community volunteers. The first batch of Indian Haj pilgrims arrived on April 29, and the Indian government has prioritized the annual pilgrimage for Indian Muslims, increasing the allocation from 136,020 in 2014 to 175,025 in 2025.

For Haj 2025, the Indian Haj Mission aims to provide dedicated support for elderly pilgrims and individuals with special needs. The Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA), through the Haj Committee of India, is managing the arrangements for the majority of the allocated quota. All preparations, including flight schedules, transportation, Mina camps, accommodation, and additional services, have been completed in compliance with Saudi regulations and timelines.
