Tragic Discovery: BJP Leader Dilip Ghosh’s Stepson’s Untimely Death Shocks Kolkata
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh is mourning the unexpected loss of his stepson, 27-year-old Srinjoy Dasgupta, who was found dead on May 13, 2025. The cause of death, according to an initial autopsy report, appears to be “acute haemorrhagic pancreatitis,” with no signs of foul play. Srinjoy, the son of Ghosh’s wife, Rinku Majumdar, from a previous marriage, was employed at an IT firm and resided in the New Town area of Kolkata.
Rinku Majumdar and other family members rushed Srinjoy to a state-run health facility, where he was pronounced dead. In a heartfelt statement, Ghosh expressed his grief, saying, “It is my misfortune that I have to suffer from the bereavement of a son. We cannot imagine what has happened.”
Ghosh, aged 60, recently married Rinku Majumdar, 50, in a private ceremony that sparked curiosity among political circles, given his prior ties to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Notably, Srinjoy had publicly supported his mother’s decision to marry Ghosh, expressing happiness and commitment to her choice.
While Majumdar acknowledged that her son had been experiencing some depression, she highlighted their recent connection, noting that he visited her on Mother’s Day with a gift. Relatives mentioned that they spoke with Srinjoy on the evening of May 12, just a day prior to his passing.
At this point, the police confirmed that no official complaint had been filed by Majumdar or any other family members regarding the circumstances surrounding Srinjoy’s death. Further investigations will be conducted to provide clarity on this unexpected tragedy.
The news of this loss has deeply impacted the family and raised concerns within the community about mental health and the pressures faced by young professionals. As more details emerge, the family is appealing for privacy during this difficult time.
This incident underscores the profound challenges of bereavement, bringing attention to the importance of mental health support in turbulent times.
