Drone Activity Sparks Urgent Response from Defence Forces in Samba
Suspected drones were sighted over Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Monday, prompting immediate action from security forces. According to defence sources, the military engaged these aerial objects while maintaining heightened vigilance in the sensitive border region.
Officials reassured the public that despite these developments occurring amid strained relations between India and Pakistan, there is no immediate cause for alarm. A senior defence official stated, “The situation is under control, and our forces remain alert to any threat.”
Footage from the news agency ANI showcased the drone encounters in the Samba sector, highlighting ongoing drone activity across the border districts of Jammu and Kashmir in recent weeks. This persistent activity raises concerns, particularly as Indian forces previously intercepted Pakistani drones attempting to breach the border on May 8.
Similar drone sightings were documented earlier in Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, Amritsar, and Pathankot, indicating a trend of increased drone incursions that coincide with rising tensions between the neighboring countries. Defence analysts suggest these repeated sightings may point to attempts at surveillance and potential arms drops, which have led to calls for enhanced counter-drone measures along India’s western front.
