The Sikkim government, in collaboration with the Press Club of Sikkim, will celebrate 50 years of the state’s statehood through a major event titled ‘Sikkim@50: Golden Jubilee Conclave 1975–2025’. This conclave is set to take place at Adampool in Gangtok and is organized by the Information and Public Relations Department (IPR) alongside the press club, according to officials.
Prominent figures will gather to reflect on Sikkim’s development over the past five decades and provide insights into its future trajectory, as stated by Bhim Rawat, president of the Press Club of Sikkim. He emphasized that discussions will not only highlight the key achievements of the state but also delve into upcoming investment opportunities that arise from its progress.
Sarojini Subba, the Senior District Information Officer in Gangtok, pointed out that this conclave is a strategic initiative by the state government aimed at spotlighting the evolution of the fourth pillar of democracy, coinciding with this significant milestone. She added that the event is particularly timely, considering the increasing geopolitical importance of Sikkim and its unique geographic position.
The conclave aims to engage various stakeholders in a dialogue that underscores the accomplishments of Sikkim and explores future potentials for growth and development within the state.
