India Enhances Defence Manufacturing with New BrahMos Missile Facility
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a Rs 300 crore BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility at the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor on Sunday via video conference. This state-of-the-art facility represents a major leap forward in India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities, enhancing a vital segment of the Defence Corridor in Uttar Pradesh.
During the virtual ceremony, Singh expressed his delight at the inauguration, stating, “I wanted to attend in person. But you know why I couldn’t come. Looking at the situation we are facing, it was important for me to be in Delhi.” He also highlighted the significance of the date, marking it as National Technology Day. On this day in 1998, under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, India conducted nuclear tests in Pokhran, showcasing its strength to the world. Singh acknowledged the hard work of scientists, engineers, and defence personnel that made that achievement possible.
The Ministry of Defence emphasized that this new facility goes beyond missile production, offering extensive testing capabilities and integration facilities, along with a dedicated materials complex for aerospace-grade components. In a statement shared on X, the Ministry described the project as “a major leap toward #AtmanirbharBharat” and a strategic enhancement to regional industrial growth.
This initiative aligns with India’s vision for self-reliance in defence manufacturing, marking an important step in strengthening the nation’s capabilities in this critical sector.
