Agartala: Former Tipra Motha Chair Urges India-Bangladesh Dialogue on Minority Protection

Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the former Chairman of Tipra Motha in Tripura, has urged the Indian government to initiate dialogue with the incoming interim government in Bangladesh to safeguard minorities and indigenous communities in the neighboring nation.

In a recent social media post, Pradyot highlighted the escalating attacks on these vulnerable groups in Bangladesh, calling the situation "deeply concerning." He emphasized the importance of avoiding provocative statements that could exacerbate tensions.

"The Government of India needs to ensure that whoever assumes control in Bangladesh understands the importance of protecting minorities and indigenous people. We must also be cautious not to issue provocative statements from our side," Pradyot stated.

Earlier, on August 5, Pradyot met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who assured him that India’s borders are secure and that measures are in place to prevent any illegal influx.
