The post read, "APPEAL TO THE YOUTH Serve the Nation. Be Prepared. Chandigarh Administration invites young citizens who are above 18 years of age to join as Civil Defence Volunteers and support emergency preparedness."
On May 10, 2025, thousands flocked to the Tagore Theatre in Chandigarh eager to register as Civil Defence volunteers, demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering a culture of readiness and resilience within their community. A video shared by news agency ANI on X showcased the impressive turnout, as large lines formed outside the venue in response to the call for volunteers to aid in emergency assistance.
The turnout at the registration event reflects a growing civic responsibility among the youth of Chandigarh in light of the precarious geopolitical situation.
