Applications are now open for various technical positions at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Silchar, Assam. The institute is seeking eligible candidates for the role of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) as part of a project funded by the West Bengal Department of Science and Technology and Biotechnology, in collaboration with Nephrocare India Pvt. Ltd. The project focuses on the design and development of an affordable hemodialysis machine equipped with remote monitoring capabilities.
NIT Silchar aims to carve a distinctive identity by enhancing high-quality human resources and knowledge across various technological fields, addressing the economic and social demands of local, national, and global contexts. The institute’s mission is not only to educate and transform young individuals into responsible engineers, technologists, and scientists but also to motivate them towards professional excellence and active societal engagement. Established initially as a Regional Engineering College under the Government of India’s Quality Technical Education Policy, REC Silchar emerged as the 15th such institution in the country. It later transitioned to NIT Silchar, achieving the status of a Deemed University based on recommendations from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The position available is for one Junior Research Fellow. Candidates must hold an M.E./M.Tech or a B.E./B.Tech degree with a qualifying score in GATE/NET, or possess an equivalent qualification, achieving first-class marks overall in relevant electrical science fields such as Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communication Engineering, Computer Science, Instrumentation Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Robotics Engineering.
The fellowship offers a consolidated monthly stipend of INR 25,000 for the first two years, with an increase to INR 30,000 per month in the third year for Senior Research Fellows.
