Tripura’s National Lok Adalat on May 10: 21,410 Cases Await Justice
Agartala, 8th May 2025: The second National Lok Adalat of the year is set to take place across Tripura on Saturday, May 10, aimed at expediting the resolution of 21,410 cases. This initiative will be held at the Tripura High Court and in various district and sub-divisional courts throughout the state, with sessions conducted across 40 designated benches.
Official data reveals that the cases slated for resolution include 339 related to motor accident compensation, 211 marital disputes, 5,457 bank loan repayment issues, 1,000 BSNL bill disputes, and a significant 14,264 conciliatory criminal disputes falling under the MB Act, TP Act, TG Act, and Excise Act. Additionally, there are 63 cheque bounce cases (under the NI Act), 9 consumer rights cases, 48 electricity bill disputes, and 8 cases concerning employment-related matters.
Notices have already been dispatched to all involved parties, initiating pre-conciliation efforts since May 5 via the District and Sub-Division Legal Services Authorities. The legal aid network “Odhikar Mitra” is actively assisting those notified, helping them navigate the settlement process effectively.
Justice Amarnath Goud, Executive Chairman of the State Legal Services Authority, has issued directives to ensure the successful execution of the National Lok Adalat. Member-Secretary Jhuma Dutta Chowdhury has encouraged the public to seize this opportunity for swift and cost-free resolution of their cases.
The National Lok Adalat is a crucial part of an ongoing initiative designed to enhance access to legal recourse and reinforce the judiciary’s commitment to delivering expedited justice effectively.
