Indian Shooters Shine in Paris Olympics 2024, Bagging Historic Medals

The Indian contingent has made a spectacular start at the Paris Olympics, with shooting events leading the medal tally for the nation. For the first time in India’s Olympic history, the country has clinched more than two medals in a single sport. The spotlight is on Manu Bhaker, who has emerged as a standout performer. Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian athlete post-Independence to win two medals in the same Olympics, reminiscent of Norman Pritchard’s achievement in 1900.

Bhaker’s accomplishments include a bronze in the women’s individual 10m air pistol event and another bronze in the mixed team 10m air pistol, where she teamed up with Sarabjot Singh. These victories set an inspiring tone for the Indian squad’s campaign in Paris.

Adding to the triumph, shooter Swapnil Kusale secured a bronze in the men’s 50m air pistol three positions event, further augmenting India’s medal haul. This extraordinary performance by Indian shooters not only marks a significant milestone but also boosts the nation’s morale as the games progress. The Paris Olympics 2024 is indeed turning out to be a landmark event for Indian sports, with shooting laying the foundation for what could be the country’s best-ever Olympic performance.
